‘TF2′ Worst-Reviewed $400 Million Hit

Yahoo.com has an article about the critics bashing on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Basically TF2 set a new standard of how a critics word is taken.

Critics “forget what the goal of the movie was. The goal of the movie is to entertain and have fun,” said Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount, which is distributing “Transformers” for DreamWorks. “What the audience tells us is, `We couldn’t be more entertained and having more fun.’ They kind of roll their eyes at the critics and say, `You have no idea what you’re talking about.’”

There is truth in those words.

Thank you

‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’

See. This. Movie.

I’m sorry, but I had to say that. I usually tend to agree with “professional” reviewers, and especially Ebert, on most things. But they really got this one wrong, in my opinion (feel more than free to disagree). I had about as much fun over the past two and a half hours as I’ve had since…well, since the first Transformers movie.

I have two short complaints, which I’ll get out of the way early. First, I actually thought the effects were better in the first film, but that may just be because we see plenty more of the robots in this film. Second, I thought the last forty minutes could have been cut to about half the length, which would possibly have made the post-movie line for the bathroom a bit shorter (not that I’m frustrated about that or anything…).

As for Shia. Do we just settle now on designating him as the actor of his generation? The theater was sold out tonight–as it was for Eagle Eye, and Indy IV, and the first Transformers film, and Disturbia. How many number one films does this kid have to open before we stop discussing Zac Efron? Not to mention (and I’m not just saying this because I’m a fan), the robots may have had center stage formally, but this really was Shia’s film. He shows off his knack for pivoting quickly from hilarious comedic timing to a great dramatic depth. He’s the human heart and soul of this movie, and holds it together in a way that no other actor of his age bracket possibly could. Again, feel free to disagree, but that’s just my opinion.

So that’s all I have to say. Feel free to comment below with your opinions, and debate (or agree). All that we ask is that you don’t post spoilers, as there are plenty of fans who may not have gotten to see this yet.

So, my final thought–see this movie, if only to hear Shia deliver the single greatest shriek in film history.

‘Transformers’ Tomorrow

As I’m sure you all know, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen officially premieres tomorrow (though there have been plenty of sneak previews going on!). We’ll be doing what we do for each new Shia film–tomorrow night we will post a site review of the film, and open up the comments section for fans to post their own personal reviews, thoughts, and criticisms of the film. It’s usually gone terrifically in the past, so we look forward to keeping this tradition going.

The critics have been kind of rough on this film, especially Ebert–however, we’re going into this as devoted Shia fans as well as movie fans, so I’d imagine we’re all going to bring something different to the table. So look for the review post tomorrow!
